I just wanted to introduce United Mustangs of America for anyone looking for a hands-on horsemanship option in the Arroyo Grande area.
UMA is a Heartland Charter School vendor, and students can use approved charter funds for sessions. We focus on real horse handling skills — safety, groundwork, riding foundations, horse care, and confidence building — through what I call Horse Handling Science fundamentals.
This is a good fit for students ages 8+ who want real horse experience in a calm, student-centered environment.

How do Heartland charter funds work with UMA?
UMA is an approved Heartland Charter School vendor. Once your Purchase Order (PO) is on file, sessions are billed directly through Heartland’s ordering system — there’s no out-of-pocket cost to you. A PO must be approved before lessons begin for the month.
What ages and experience levels do you work with?
Students ages 8 and up are welcome, including complete beginners. Sessions are student-centered, so we meet each rider where they are — whether that’s their very first time near a horse or building on existing skills.
What will my student actually learn?
We call it Horse Handling Science: real safety fundamentals, groundwork and communication with the horse, riding foundations, and horse care. The goal isn’t just riding — it’s raising capable, confident horsemen who understand the horse as a partner.
Where are sessions held?
UMA is based in Arroyo Grande, CA. Exact location and scheduling details are shared once your enrollment is confirmed.
How do I get started?
Sign up for an intro session with United Mustangs of America through the Heartland catalog. Once your order is approved and received, reach out to me — I’ll send you the intake forms and the link to book your session time.
What are your available session time blocks?
