UMA Introductory
Session
Your first step into a horse handling science school where you learn to understand, handle, care for, and partner with horses.
Book Your Session — $10010 spots available · 2 hours · Ages 9 and up
This is not a random riding lesson.
This is the first step into learning the whole horse.
What This Session Is
The UMA Introductory Session is a 2-hour hands-on first session for new students at United Mustangs of America. When you arrive, we talk. I want to know your goals, your experience, your questions, and what you are hoping to find here.
Nothing is rushed. Nothing is assumed. The session is built around where you actually are — not where anyone thinks you should be.
You leave with a clear picture of where you are starting from, what I recommend as your next step, and whether UMA is the right fit for both of us.
What May Happen in Your Two Hours
Depending on the student, the session may include any combination of the following. Every session is different because every student is different.
Horse Behavior
Learn to read what the horse is telling you before you ever touch it.
Ranch Safety
How we move around horses. How we think in a working ranch environment.
Groundwork & Handling
On-the-ground horse handling using Horse Handling Science principles.
Horse Care & Grooming
Real horse life — caring for the animal, not just riding it.
Riding
If it is safe and appropriate for the student that day, we may ride.
Your Path Forward
We talk about where you are starting and what the right next step looks like.
Who This Is For
The UMA Introductory Session is for new students ages 9 and up who want to learn horses the right way.
- Kids and teens who are horse-obsessed and ready for something real
- Adults who have always wanted this and are finally ready to find the right door in
- Families who want meaningful horse education, not a carousel experience
- People who have taken lessons before but never felt the real connection
- Current horse owners who want better understanding and confidence
- Anyone who has been standing outside the gate looking in
You do not need experience. You do not need your own horse. You do not need to know anything yet.
The Horses
The horses your student will learn on are not backyard horses.
in the school
Makeover competitions
every time
These are Extreme Mustang Makeover horses — wild Mustangs gentled, trained, and competed with from the ground up. I kept them because they proved themselves as partners worth building a program around. They know how to teach.
How to Prepare
Come ready for a real ranch environment. Dirt, animals, uneven ground, weather, and normal horse-life conditions. This is where horses actually live.
What to Wear
- Closed-toe boots or sturdy closed-toe shoes
- Jeans or riding pants
- Weather-appropriate clothing
- Nothing loose or dangling
What to Bring
- Water
- Sun protection if needed
- ASTM/SEI-certified riding helmet if you have one
- Questions — bring all of them
If you do not have a helmet yet, we will talk about what to get. Helmets are required for any riding.
What Comes Next
After the session, we talk about the best next step. This is a mutual fit process. I need to see whether UMA is the right learning environment for the student. You need to decide whether this feels like the right place.
If it is a good fit, I recommend the appropriate path. If I feel a different starting point or program would serve the student better, I will tell you honestly. That is also part of the service.
4 lessons per month plus UMA Student Center access. The core learning path.
4 lessons per month, UMA Student Center access, plus additional scheduled horse time for students ready for deeper hands-on involvement.
